Peddlers of Poison
RISE AND SHINE FOR JESUS! \O/
By Pam Iannello
(my late mother)
Proverbs 11:13 (KJV)
A talebearer revealeth
secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
A talebearer is
a person who doesn’t keep quiet when he should. A talebearer reveals things
that should never be told while a faithful person conceals confidential
details. Many people think that a talebearer is one who fabricates stories but
according to the Bible this is not so. This scripture verse is not referring to
falsehoods, but is referring to things that are true but are unnecessary to make known. Are you a
bearer of tales, dear lady? Should every tidbit of attention-grabbing info you
pass along really be made public? Believe it or not, a bona fide talebearer
even spreads his own intimacies all
over the place! Even so, just
because the information is accurate doesn’t make it right to share…
Proverbs 18:8
(KJV)
The words of
a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the
innermost parts of the belly.
Proverbs 26:22
(KJV)
The words of
a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the
innermost parts of the belly.
How important it
is that we learn the secret of silence! Consider the damage that an individual
with loose words can cause… In fact, God put this passage in the Bible twice
just so we would ponder the extent of the damage more than once! Do you think twice before
you speak? Is there a chance you may
have wounded someone deeply by your tactless talk, dear lady? Is chatting with you the same as reading the
front page of the newspaper? Has an innocent bystander unsuspectingly
ingested your delectable serving of secrets only to be injured by them at a
later date? How much pain is associated with the tales you transfer into the
soul of your listeners? Surely the wounds could have been avoided – if you had read and obeyed God’s Word!! And
by the way, ladies, those who willingly assimilate tasty tales will find soon
afterward that their own nature is severely altered for listening… In fact, the faithfulness of YOUR spirit is at stake!
Proverbs 20:19 (KJV)
He that goeth about as a
talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth
with his lips.
If it has become
your main business to recite personal particulars, the Lord has hung a bright caution
light over your head in His Word! Yes, God commands His children not to meddle
with folks that employ their lips in a loose and inappropriate fashion. We are expected to refuse to associate with gossip
oriented persons, Christian or not. Why? Because
you can’t control their tongue – but you can control your ears! I love
the fact that God’s solutions to man’s problems
are always simple - don’t associate with a
talebearer. Tale-bearing emits a threefold poison; for it
injures the teller, the hearer, and the person concerning whom the tale is
told. Ladies, are you strong enough to identify and smart enough to resist the alluring technique of
individuals who endeavor to entice you with their archive of classified information?
Would God say that you have an appetite for stealthy chit-chat? Do you really care
about building, maintaining, and guarding a faithful spirit in yourself?
Proverbs 26:20 (KJV)
Where no wood is, there the
fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
I believe God
would be pleased if we all behaved in such a fashion as to put a talebearer out
of business, amen? Considering your current testimony in light of the above
passage, are you to blame for enhancing a talebearer’s career or thwarting it? Are you supplying the ears for a talebearers
tongue? Or, does the LORD have your ear?
Leviticus 19:16 (KJV)
Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy
people: neither shalt thou stand against the
blood of thy neighbour:
I am the Lord.
Sadly, society
has pretty much accepted the fact that women are known to be creatures with a
propensity for gossip and speaking things they ought not and some folks even
chuckle over this kind of activity…. BUT, God does not approve of tale bearing no matter how used to this hellish
habit others may be! The Lord considers a person traveling about peddling all
sorts of colorful stories, gathering the secrets of every person and family and
retailing them wherever he or she goes to be WICKED. In fact, it is every bit
the same as what Satan does! The lives and reputations of innocent people
are greatly injured by this ungodly practice. Such a despicable person is a
pest to society and should be banished from the habitations of men!
“Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people.” Will you take what
God said about this matter seriously?
God Bless,
Pam
