Heavenly Recipe: Jerky Salsa Chili
Jerky Salsa Chili |
- 1 package of hormone/preservative free beef or turkey jerky - I used a hickory smoked jerky with GREAT results (tear the jerky in small pieces - it will rehydrate and soften during the cooking)
- 1 can of organic sweet corn, undrained - my husband likes corn in his chili - it's optional 😉
- 1 can of organic kidney beans, undrained
- 1 can of organic pinto beans, undrained
- 1 large 16oz can of organic diced tomatoes - you can mash these down a little if you like a less chunky tomato
- 1 8 oz jar of favorite organic salsa - whatever heat you like - we used Aldi's organic medium salsa
Because the salsa contains all the other veggies like the peppers, onion, and garlic already, you don't have to chop and saute' anything - and the jerky has plenty of salt too; which is why it's such a great recipe for the road! Combine all the ingredients in your pot/crockpot and let simmer for at least 1 hour and the results are so flavorful and delicious! We paired it with a lime tortilla chip, which was an excellent combo! You can also easily adjust the amounts of this chili to how many people you need to feed! I hope this recipe proves helpful to some of you and if you know someone who is on the road a lot, please pass this along to them. I love God's recipes! They are the BEST! 😊
