February Prayer Letter 2016

The Haynes to Italy

February 2016

This was a good month for deputation because we saw God come through in so many ways. We picked right back up with meetings in TN for February. I am happy to report more churches have visualized their eternal rewards from work in the vast harvest fields of Italy, and taken us on for support. I am honored to be a servant to my brethren by connecting local churches to the mission field of Italy. God has continued to swing the scheduling door open-- allowing us to book several mission conferences into 2017. Booking 2017 missions conferences creates an outline as to when and where I need to schedule meetings—greatly increasing deputation efficiency. Not to mention almost all of 2016 is completely full! Please continue to pray for our travel as that all of March will be near the TN/NC/VA border. The missionary van is holding up well for the moment. There is a tool for the vehicle I could greatly use (it’s not an urgent need but would greatly be of use), and I have told God about it…a cordless impact wrench. If you know of a good one with a reasonable price or one I could at least borrow for deputation travel…It would be a blessing to us.
While sitting down making phone calls, I heard a knock at the front door of the church. Answering it a man who looked like he had done “hard time” in prison asked me if I could help. He told me his wife and he were in Huntsville for an operation she needed, but needed to stay the night at a local hotel. He told me they were short $15 which was all they needed to stay the night for the following day surgery. Luke 6:30: “Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.” I opened my wallet and $15 in cash stared back at me…all the cash I had. I gave it to him along with a gospel tract, wished him and his wife well. No, I’m not made of money, but I DO KNOW what it is like to only need a few dollars…and the gratitude when someone cares enough to give it—no strings attached, just an act of charity and kindness. My job as a Missionary it to tell the lost in Italy about Jesus and His goodness towards undeserving people (all of us!), however…I must LIVE what I tell others BECAUSE actions speak louder than words. If I had told this guy that we would have been praying for him and his wife but I couldn’t do anything for him, I would have had a snowball’s chance in hell to get the gospel to him. When people see you actually care about them, they are willing to give their attention and listen to you and your message…even if they have heard it before. Please pray for this man and his wife.
Lastly, I want to thank Bro. Ted Mullins, veteran missionary I met at a Mission’s Conference where Pastor Danny Farley preached the conference. (Boy, you had better get right before you go to church when Bro. Farley preaches!) Bro. Mullins was kind enough to sit down with me and helped me “iron out” a few rough spots in my presentation. I am very thankful and honored for one-on-one training/help from a man like Bro. Mullins. I am very happy to apply the minor changes so I can better present God’s need in Italy and connect local churches to lasting rewards from the Italian harvest fields.

In Christ,
