Senses Secured

Image
RISE AND SHINE FOR JESUS! By Pam Iannello (my late mother) "Senses Secured" Proverbs 7:1-5 (KJV) My son, keep my words , and lay up my commandments with thee. [2] Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye . [3] Bind them upon thy fingers , write them upon the table of thine heart . [4] Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman : [5] That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words . As I studied this portion of scripture I was heavily struck with the importance of having our senses saturated with the Word of God. You see, sexual sin often begins with unguarded eyes, hands, and hearts… And knowing that the rest of this chapter vividly deals with the unhealthy situation that occurred between a simple young man and a strange woman, it is no wonder that the Lord opens the story with strong scriptural advice! Truly, it is a perfect text to teach young

Self Discovery

Image
Rise and Shine for Jesus! \O/ By Pam Iannello (my late mother) "Self Discovery" Today there is so much emphasis on self! Self-esteem and self-discovery are two highly discussed topics among the so-called "experts" of the world. People actually believe that if you don't put self first, it's unwise and unsafe. Supposedly, the more you are consumed with self, the stronger you are as a person. Has anybody given any thought as to whether or not self-centeredness is dangerous? Has anybody stopped to consider where an obsession with self would lead you?? Let's see what the real Expert on self would tell us as we turn to the Word of God for a right understanding... Psalm 100:3 (KJV) Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. I love the simplicity of the Word of God! The Bible clearly states that God is our Creator; we did not create ourselve

Second Thoughts

Image
Rise and Shine for Jesus! \O/ By Pam Iannello (my late mother) "Second Thoughts" In thinking about the ocean, it is a body of water symbolic of instability. It is never the same from day to day... One minute it is gentle and rolling and the next it is filled with roaring, life threatening waves! It is a slave to the winds and the moon, which cause the sea to behave in such a fickle fashion. How long do you stay the same, dear lady? By that I mean, how long after purposing in your heart to do things differently, in light of God's Word, do you remain constant in your commitment? What would you say causes men and women to conduct their lives in an unstable manner or be robbed of stability altogether? Proverbs 5:6 says of the strange woman that "her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them." This woman is of a slippery nature... Further down in verse 8, the Bible counsels us to remove thy way far from her and come not nigh the door of

Scriptural Support

Image
Rise and Shine for Jesus! \O/ By Pam Iannello (my late mother) "Scriptural Support" Exodus 18:19-20 (KJV) Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: [20] And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. What is some of the best advice you have ever been given? Whether a piece of advice shared in passing, or hearty counsel given regularly, one's support in the lives of others should be seriously considered. Moses faced quite a task in having been given the responsibility for bringing Israel out of bondage. So too, do you and I face quite a task whenever it comes to assisting others in bringing them out of spiritual, emotional, and physical captivity to wrong behavior. Many women look to one another for advice - are you sure you are leading ladies

Haynes Family Prayer Letter - October 2018

Image
October 2018 Dear Supporting Churches and Friends, Got some good news to report in from this past month.  First, I will tell you about a great project which Justine is doing  for two orphanages in Rome. A while back, somebody gifted Justine about 100 skeins of yarn (that’s one of those yarn thingies for all you guys out there).  Justine was praying about using the yarn to make something on a large scale for a group of people, but also using it to get the Gospel of our Lord Jesus to that specific group .  One of Justine’s heroes is Dorcas because she made garments for the poor as her ministry, which ultimately brought Glory to God when Peter raised her from the dead in Acts 9.  Justine got in touch with an orphanage in Rome which currently has 80 kids living there. Justine explained everything to the director and they were THRILLED about handmade scarves and gave us the “green light” to send everything.  The director even told us to m

SAY NOT

Image
Rise and Shine for Jesus! \O/ By Pam Iannello (my late mother) "SAY NOT" Proverbs 24:29 (KJV) Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work. Humility admits imperfection, wouldn’t you agree? That's why, in the spirit of meekness, a reasonable individual understands that people will fail them as they will fail others from time to time. BUT, when we respond to the sinful behavior of other people in the manner described above, we leave no room for God’s character to be demonstrated in and through us. Ladies, when somebody serves us up a huge dose of flesh, more often than not we serve a huge dose of flesh back, thus the fleshly ping-pong tournament is set in motion. Back and forth we go, quenching the Spirit with every come back… Then, in the end, the pastor is called to patch up the battered and bruised participants and bring healing to an event they could have averted at the outset if someone ha

Ruling Your Spirit

Image
RISE AND SHINE FOR JESUS! By Pam Iannello (my late mother) "Ruling Your Spirit" What gets you mad? What sorts of issues tend to inflame you? How do you vent your anger and frustration? Would the Lord consider you a person who is good at managing yourself during emotional peaks of any kind? If not, what is your strategy to better controlling the way in which you deal with anger or express your irritations in general? Perhaps even contemplating this topic is highly agitating to you! If so, you need to read on… In fact, we all should, so let’s brave the storm and look at what God says about the things that take place inside of us… Proverbs 16:32 (KJV) He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. According to the Word of God, it takes more power, wisdom, and strength to rule our spirits than it does to capture and claim authority over a whole city! The question is - are you winning t
