Haynes Family Prayer Letter - October 2018

October 2018
Dear Supporting Churches and Friends,
Got some good news to report in from this past month.  First, I will tell you about a great project which Justine is doing  for two orphanages in Rome. A while back, somebody gifted Justine about 100 skeins of yarn (that’s one of those yarn thingies for all you guys out there).  Justine was praying about using the yarn to make something on a large scale for a group of people, but also using it to get the Gospel of our Lord Jesus to that specific group.  One of Justine’s heroes is Dorcas because she made garments for the poor as her ministry, which ultimately brought Glory to God when Peter raised her from the dead in Acts 9.  Justine got in touch with an orphanage in Rome which currently has 80 kids living there. Justine explained everything to the director and they were THRILLED about handmade scarves and gave us the “green light” to send everything.  The director even told us to make sure we come by the orphanage when we are in Rome so the kids can see Justine and meet her!  What an open door!  Please pray for this project for the  young orphan kids who are in really bad positions--when they are shown love and compassion from a person they don’t even know...it makes is a little easier to understand that a God they have never seen loves them dearly--enough to die for them! (Romans 5:8)  We ordered some Italian tracts with a clear cut message of the Gospel and they arrived this last week. We are going to put them individually into cards for each child to receive along with the scarves.  This project is about ½ way finished and we are hoping to get this in the mail by the end of November!
I think God uses broken cars as the vehicle to witness to specific people.  After all, didn’t God use Balaam’s original horsepower to communicate God’s message?  (Num. 22) The familiar “ding” goes off while I am driving and this time it’s just a low tire (thank God)...I put in some air and continue the day.  NEXT morning….”ding”...low tire. I know how this goes, so I go to get it replaced. The guy at the counter is the only man in the place and while he puts the new tire on, I get a chance to get the Gospel to him.  He didn’t get saved right then and there, but that is either a seed planted OR a seed watered...so please pray for this guy cause on the surface level he looked like he needed Jesus!  Actually, it’s the ones who “look right” that are most often the toughest ones!
The SECOND broken car evangelism occurred in a parking lot where I saw a guy with the hood and trunk of his car up.  Stopping in the next parking space over, I asked if he was ok and he said not really. He ran out of gas and the gas can from the nearby station had a busted seal so he did not get much gas into the car.  I had $7 in my wallet and asked if he had enough fuel from the gas can to get to the station. He said he could make it to the station, but couldn’t make it home. I gave him the money and had just a moment to give him a Chick Tract and invited him to church.  You can tell when a person is actually humbled by having to receive some help--but again, please pray for this guy too! I will probably never see this guy again...but the Holy Spirit will continue to work on him towards salvation!
We also had a slight increase in support to 66%.  Please continue to pray for the remainder of support to reach the mission field of Italy and for the funds for plane tickets.

Sincerely,
Bro. Harrison Haynes and Family
