Grass in the Desert?!

Image
And when it was evening, his disciples came unto him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away...But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat...And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass , and took... WAIT A MINUTE! What was that there?  Grass in the DESERT???? (Matt 14:15-19) I don't know about you, but one thing I would NOT expect to find in the desert is grass. Grass means water and good soil!    Most of the time, we focus on the next part of the story and the feeding of the five thousand and how Jesus multiplied the bread and fishes. But I think that grass in the desert for at least 10,000 people to sit on is quite a miracle too!!! Our family has been going through a desert place in our lives for quite a while now and we would appreciate your prayers! Sometimes it's difficult to be patient travelling through a desert to the other side, but there is no way around it - you have to go t

More Than A Crisis Prayer

Rise and Shine for Jesus! \O/ By Pam Iannello (my late mother) A ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church @ www.nbbconline.com When has an emergency or personal problem caused you to pray?  It's interesting how these are the times that we can always be found beseeching the Lord for His help.  But what about when there is no emergency, what about when there is no crisis in our lives, are we praying then??  Why do you think it is that personal crises motivate people to pray more?  Do you think perhaps we might need to change our attitude toward prayer if this is usually the case? Psalm 5:1-2 (KJV) Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God:  for unto thee will I pray. Just like us, David prayed to the Lord when he had big problems.  But did you notice the way he prayed?  His words sound like a pretty bold approach, don't they? And there is a desperate ring to them as well. No doubt a

My Italian Baby Falls Asleep to the Zampogna

Claudia Mandela was "made in Italy"; in Mandela, Italy! So no wonder she loves Italian music so much!!! She just found her voice recently and how to put it together with her lungs and she is so LOUD (just like an Italian)! :)  One day shortly after she was born, I was watching an Italian documentary on the Italian bagpipe called the zampogna. When that music was on, she would stop crying even at just a few days old and listen and then fall asleep. Now 6 months later, she is still the same way! She loves  the zampogna! I do too, but I still don't know how anyone could fall asleep to it! :)

Money Talks

RISE AND SHINE FOR JESUS! \O/ By Pam Iannello (my late mother) A ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church @ www.nbbconline.com Proverbs 18:23 (KJV) The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly. One can’t help but observe the difference a dollar makes in a person’s conduct as you read this verse… When we are facing impoverished conditions, we lack power. Therefore, it becomes necessary to ask for the essentials of life. Naturally, it behooves the poor individual to make a humble request of those they are dependent upon, otherwise the odds of not getting their need met is increased by faulty approach. People at a disadvantage might not always receive right treatment but they are usually very alert to their method of communication…      The rich, on the other hand, aren’t as conscious of their manners. In fact, they tend to leave off politeness and take on rough ways because they think their money speaks for them. A false sense of sel

July Prayer Letter

Image
July Prayer Letter Greetings to All, Thank you all for your prayers.  This past month I made the most of a family reunion in New York.  I was able to present the ministry in 2 churches near Rochester, NY.  These churches are on fire for God and with me on deputation to Italy—I had a great time presenting the ministry.  Most people in New York have some relatives that are either Italian or Irish, but almost everybody in New York has family which are catholic.  Since most people in New York can relate to either “Italian” or “catholic”…our ministry was received very well.  I would love to be able to do deputation in the north eastern part of the US, because it seems many people can relate to being lost yet being very religious—just like the people in Italy. While traveling to the family reunion, I thought I was having trouble with the van’s cooling system….not good when you are “on the road”.  I called a local mechanic shop which was literally right down the road!  I arrived and tol
