It Is Better

RISE AND SHINE FOR JESUS! \O/
By Pam Iannello

Psalm 118:8-9 (KJV)
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. [9] It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

As a Christian, you need confidence. It is required in the Lord’s service because truth does not always provoke a positive reaction… Think about it - how could you expect to face the world, the flesh, and the devil on a daily basis without any confidence? You would never want to get out of bed! In light of that fact, we need to check out the source of our confidence… Ladies, if our confidence does not grow out of reliance upon God then it is self-confidence, or rather, reliance upon self. Actually, confidence can be a friend or an enemy to us based on where it is rooted. While exploring your own heart, would you say your confidence is rooted in you or the Lord? Not sure? Well, if your portion of confidence causes you to believe you can do what needs to be done in your own strength then it is an enemy to your relationship with God! We can be confident of victory onlyif we place our confidence in the Lord and not ourselves. By the way, putting our confidence in God does not make our troubles disappear – it only makes them appear less intimidating because it puts them in the right perspective.

So then, while you live and work for the Lord keep today’s scriptural truth in the forefront of your mind - the Bible says trusting in the Lord is BETTER than putting our confidence in man (including you!). Scripture doesn’t say that you can’t ever rely upon anyone, but as we learned yesterday by way of Proverbs 25:19, there are times when people will let us down because they are feeble and fickle - but God is not! Therefore, it is BEST to trust in the Lord above all else. As a matter of fact, God even warns us against putting our confidence in princes – men of high estate or individuals that appear to be advanced in their wisdom and skills. They are still limited by their human nature...Nobody qualifies for or deserves our full confidence but the Lord!

When looking for human support, the best people to rely upon are those who are relying entirely upon God. You can’t just look at man; you must look at his connection with the Lord. Trace his dependency – where does it rest? Ladies, if you are rarely selected for support purposes there is a possibility that it is evident to your superiors that your confidence is not yet positioned properly. Men and women are only as reliable as they are reliant upon God. You see, those who are serious about getting a work done for the Lord need people who are leaning in the right direction! It is not wise to lean on those who lean on their own understanding or accomplishments or attributes. The risks are too high…Would you advise and/or permit your children to marry self-reliant persons or someone who truly trusts in the Lord? I hope the latter… If the foundation of our lives isn’t Christ, the building will come down; the home will suffer, as does the church when it is erected with self-confident partners. Spiritual support is BETTER than fleshly support! Which do you have to offer?

God Bless,
Pam
